Children:

Watching your child struggle with emotional difficulties is difficult for any parent. Whether it is anxiety, depression, social issues or behavioral concerns in the home or at school- we are here to help you help your child overcome those challenges. We assist parents in developing behavior plans for the home and modifying their parenting techniques to better suit their child's needs, and bring about more positive behaviors. We also assist the child in learning healthier ways to communicate their feelings and needs, as well as learn coping skills to help them manage challenging emotions.

Adolescents:

It is critical for adolescents to feel respected, validated and understood. Adolescents need to feel powerful and know they have the strength to affect the world and their identity. Being a teen today comes with tremendous pressure and can be overwhelming. Whether it is struggling finding healthy ways to cope, dealing with social pressure, sorting through intense and confusing emotions, or surviving school and relationships- just having someone to talk to can make all the difference.

Our clinicians are skilled in working with “hard to reach” youth that may take a bit longer to warm up to the idea of counseling. We create a safe space for your child to work through their difficulties to live more satisfying and productive lives.

Parent Counseling:

Parents and their children will experience conflict, and it's both healthy and normal in many circumstances. However, if the conflict you have with your child is causing stress and other negative emotions, it may be time to consider professional help. It is challenging to experience parent-child conflict, but it is not a hopeless situation. Parent counseling will build upon families strengths and will help parents create a home environment free from power struggles and chaos.

EMDR:

EMDR therapy is a model that moves through several phases. There are eight phases to EMDR therapy: initial history discovery and treatment planning, preparation, assessment, desensitization, installation, body scan, closure, and then reevaluation. The goal of EMDR therapy is to process completely the experiences that are causing problems, and to include new ones that are needed for full health.

During sessions the client will focus on the upsetting/distressing event, the therapist will begin sets of side-to-side eye movements, sounds, or taps. The client will be guided to notice what comes to mind after each set. They may experience shifts in insight or changes in images, feelings, or beliefs regarding the event.

The goal of EMDR therapy is to leave you with the emotions, understanding, and perspectives that will lead to healthy and useful behaviors and interactions.
